That was it. Just one sentence.

And yet that one sentence changed the way I saw everything.

I’d accepted that Nathaniel and I lived in different time dimensions.

But if I had heard music that Nathaniel played in 1918, did that mean that the boundaries of time as we knew it were permeable?

That would explain, of course, how the letters got through the typewriter.

But the music…

Well. The music was a whole different level.

That was time travel.

Time travel was one of those thing I didn’t not believe in.

I’d watched the movies. My favorite was Somewhere in Time.

Christopher Reeve had willed himself to travel back to another time to be with a woman whose picture he had fallen in love with.

If a man could fall in love with a woman just by seeing her photograph, then who was to say that a person couldn’t fall in love with a man through his letters?

Letters were much more personal, after all.

Nathaniel and I were about the same age… at least in this moment. I didn’t want to think about how old he really was. Or that he might be a ghost.

Or anything else of that nature.

Time travel.

Now that was something I could wrap my head around. Almost.

If the music could get through, then that meant that the typewriter was not the only way to cross the time boundary. That changed things, because I had already spent far too much energy trying to figure out how a person could travel through a typewriter.

The million dollar question was could a person travel through time?

If not, then what was I doing here?

If not, then what was the purpose of all this?

I had one advantage over Nathaniel.

I had the Internet.

Sliding my chair back over to my computer, I opened it up and went to the search browser.
